Being the capital of Karbala, which is one of the 18 provinces of Iraq, the city of Karbala, where the holy shrine of Imam Housein is situated, witnesses a massive celebration by the presence of pilgrims on Sha’ban 3, each year, on the occasion of Imam housein’s birthday. Being the grand son of Prophet Mohammad, Imam Houein, who was martyred here in Karbala in 7th century, is an honorable saint in Shiites’ belief. Arabic calendar is based on a lunar chart and thus events commemorated according to which change their dates year by year. This year Sha’ban 3 falls on September 8.
